Q: What exactly is it that you do?

A:  The therapy used here is called The Jellison Method. It combines aspects from modalities such as Neuromuscular, Myofascial, Craniosacral, and Deep Tissue  All therapies at BCPS compliment each other to make sure we can FULLY treat a wide variety of pains and disfunction of the body.  It's not enough to make you feel better; we want you to stay that way.

Q:  So what makes things different here?

A:  Think of it as a hands-on approach to pain that SPECIFICALLY targets your issues where they bother you AND where they are coming from.  At first, it may look like a typical massage therapy session.  However, this isn't a spa.  The bodywork is very slow and targeted to release trigger points, fascial restrictions, scar tissue and other causes of pain and limitations.  There's also another major component and that is discussing what you can do about your ailment.  This doesn't involve telling you to give up your job, your hobbies, and everything important in your life.  Anyone that has told you to give up something you love (sports, gardening, etc.) has given you a lazy answer. No, here you will get advice on how to do those things correctly with less risk of injury.  Treating you in our office is only half of what we do.  The other is setting you on the right track so that you remain pain free and at your best.

Q:  I heard this kind of work is deep.  Is it really painful?

A:  Not exactly.  It is painful to the extent that your painful areas are being concentrated on.  However, I like to tell newcomers that it may push you TO your comfort limit, but not OVER your comfort limit.  You won't be clutching the table in pain or anything like that.  This type of work is done slowly so that your body does not react to it.  Much of the traditional "deep tissue" is done quickly in a way that causes the body to tighten up in response.  It also concentrates only on the spot that hurts.  This accomplishes very little if anything.  Our style of work approaches the deep layers slowly so that you stay relaxed, but we are still getting to the main problem effectively.  It also concentrates on the area that is bothering you AND any areas that are contributing to it.  Most people say things like, "Wow! You really got to the problem, but I wasn't jumping off the table."

Q:  What will this cost?

A:  Fees are different according to the length of the session.  Sessions can be  30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes depending on how many issues need to be treated.  Most problems are treated once a week or every other week in the beginning.  Once we see a substantial improvement overall, you can expect to stretch the appointments out to a frequency that maintains optimal health.  This could stay at once a week if you prefer or come in once a month.  Your maintenance schedule can be left up to your digression.  Our business model is NOT to squeeze every penny from you.  We would much rather concentrate on making you feel your best so that you spread the word.  We only ask that you keep your appointments consistent and frequent enough that you STAY out of pain.  Fees are located in the "Rates" section for more info.

Q:  What do you treat?

A:  See this site's "What We Treat" section for a list of conditions successfully treated here.

Q:  Do you do anything else?

A:  That is currently in the works.  We are looking to add other therapies such as Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, and Yoga.  This area (and our News section) will be updated as those are added.  If you have something in mind that you would like to see here, let us know.  We are always open to suggestions.
